Barcelona Chairs, Modern Elegance For Today's Contemporary Spaces
The
Barcelona chair
is a unique and attractive furniture icon. It’s a superb example of modernist design a collaboration between Bauhaus architects Ludwig mies van der rohe and Lilly Reich.
It was originally designed in 1929 for the German Pavilion at the international exhibition in Barcelona. The design was inspired by folding chairs of ancient times.
They were designed to sit the king and queen of Spain and were a modern alternative to traditional throne. The stools were originally intended for their attendants.
The hand finished, highly polished metal legs add definition and contrast against the individually sewn squares of leather. The straps and buttons are made from cowhide and the cushions of urethane foam with polyester fibrefill.
You too can be treated as royalty! Make a statement and add striking attention to your interior. Become an owner of one (or maybe two) of this timeless piece you can hold onto for years to come!
I think this piece would look great in a living room, particularly if you have two sitting close by each other opposite your main ultra modern sofa.
I imagine this in a contemporary waiting area, office or lobby to add a touch of class and opulent elegance.
Please note that all authentic chairs should have the stamp of authenticity (the signature of Ludwig mies van der rohe).
Knoll is the only company with an international licence to produce these pieces with the exact standards of the original design.
