Furniture By Eero Saarinen
Iconic 20th century designer, Finnish American architect and industrial designer Eero Saarinen was a great furniture designer.
Here is just a short insight about this iconic man
Although originally born in Finland, as a young teen (1923) he immigrated to the United States. He went on to attend university, where he studied furniture design and sculpture at Cranbrook University of Art His father also a designer was a teacher there.
He studied alongside fellow classmates Charles and ray
Eames
who he would later collaborate with for a furniture project.
He also spent time in Paris, France (1929) studying sculpture at the Academie de la Grande Chaumiere.
He returned back to the States in 1934 he studied at the Yale University of Architecture to conclude his studies.
He became become good friends with Florence Knoll who commissioned him a ‘chair she could curl up in’. The

Chair and ottoman created in 1948 was born to be a great success and is popular and admired today.
Unfortunately he died (1961) too young at the age of 51 under tragic circumstances. He was undergoing the removal of a brain tumour in but has left the world with a taste of great furniture masterpieces.
